KENORA CURLING CLUB CURLING SEASON 2021-2022 UPDATE
Hello KCC Members,
I hope this message finds you all safe and healthy. I just wanted to send out some correspondence on the plans in place for Returning to Curl this 2021-22 season. To start we would like to thank all our members for their continued support in what has been a truly difficult year. Because of our loyal and fantastic members our membership revenue was not down too much last season however bar sales and kitchen revenue did take a hit. We would like to thank our Ways & Means coordinator, Laurie Edmonds, who always works very hard in selling advertising within the Club and because of her hard work our advertising revenue for the past year has stayed the same. A huge thank you also has to go out to our local businesses for this support through this worldwide pandemic when we know it was a very difficult time for your businesses as well. We were also able to access some Ontario rebates for property tax and energy with the hard work of our Treasurer Jonathon Ranger. We are appreciative of the assistance of Maryanne Nilson, Laurie Edmonds, Jonathon Ranger, Barry Batchelor and Randy Baird in working on the application for another Trillium Operating Grant and our hoping to be successful.
The Kenora Curling Club Annual General Meeting is next Thursday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m.Effective September 22nd as per section 2.1 of Schedule 1 to O.Reg. 364/20 under the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020 (ROA) businesses will require each patron who enters an area of the premises to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Therefore, if attending the meeting in person please bring proof of identification and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (final dose must have been received at least 14 days prior to providing the proof of being fully vaccinated). Your vaccination receipt can be found at https://covid19.ontariohealth.ca/. The club will be open at 6:00 p.m. prior to the meeting. If you are unable to attend in person we will be doing another Facebook live on the Kenora Curling Club Facebook page.
Curling is scheduled to begin October 12th.
Desperately seeking Volunteers!
Our Board is currently sitting at 8 members when we should have 12. We meet once a month (every 3rd Thursday at 5:30 p.m.). Please let us know if you would be willing to volunteer your time to sit on the Board. We are also always looking for volunteers to assist with different events or projects so please contact a Board member if there is an area of interest where you would like to dedicate some volunteer time. In addition we are requiring volunteers to assist with our Little Rock/Junior curling program.
Curler Safety - For the 2021/2022 season, the Club will require proof of vaccination status prior to the commencement of the curling season and every curling member will be required to have received two doses of a Health Canada approved COVID vaccine (any combination of two vaccines is acceptable) at least 14 days prior to October 12th.
Registration – Curlers are encouraged to visit the Kenora Curling Club website at www.kenoracurlingclub.com to register online If members require any help in the registration process please contact me and I will do my best to assist you. For those who do not have a profile from last year or have forgotten their password please text or email me and I will get you set up. Our membership fees will remain the same as last year as we understand the financial burden this pandemic has caused on many families. In order to receive the Senior rate you must be 60+ as of October 1, 2021. We will continue to offer rates for 5-6 man teams however there will be no split positions (i.e. two players sharing one position). Members are allowed to spare for free in any league providing they are a paid member. Payments can be divided into 3 installments again this year and made via etransfer to [email protected] or by postdated cheques dated for the first day of curling, November 1st & December 1st and handed in to League Representatives who will give to myself for processing. All curlers will need to sign a declaration of compliance – COVID-19, a release of liability/waiver of claims and indemnity agreement and the Rowan’s Law concussion awareness forms prior to play and this year they can be completed on our curling club website on your registration form.

Cleaning tags will be available on every sheet to hang on rock handles and scoreboard once sanitized. The Kenora Curling Club will remain up to date on the constant changing plans due to COVID-19 and restrictions and guidelines will adjust accordingly. We as a Board are committed to providing a SAFE curling season to our members.
Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions. We can’t wait to see you all again this curling season!

2020-2021 Curling Season
Good Morning KCC Members,
Hope you all had a fantastic summer. We just wanted to update you on the upcoming curling season. Yes we are planning a return for a regular season mid-October but we need some help from you. In order to know if a season will be viable we need to hear from you whether your team is planning on returning. Therefore, if league representatives could please reach out to teams and let me know by Monday, September 7th how many teams your league has we can begin our plan for the curling season.
This leads me to our next topic. The Kenora Curling Club is putting together a Return to Play COVID Working Group and are looking for 1-2 representatives from each league who would be interested in sitting on this. This Working Group will look at the guidelines set out by Curl Canada and NOCA and make a return to play plan for our club. Again, I'm asking that all league reps reach out to their leagues to get 1-2 members interested in sitting in on this group and submit their name, phone # and email to me by the end of the day Friday, September 4th. The first meeting for the group will be next Tuesday, September 8th at 5:00 p.m. at the Kenora Curling Club.
Membership fees will remain the same as last year and will be posted on the website www.kenoracurlingclub.com.
Due to COVID we may not be able to utilize the locker rooms this year so curlers will have to come dressed and bring their equipment. We are offering dates for members to come and clean out their lockers on the following dates:
- Barry is at the club most mornings Monday to Friday 7:30-11:00 a.m. He can be reached at 468-5654 if you want to call and leave a message to arrange a different time.
- Tuesday, September 8th 4:00-6:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 15th 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. and we will have a registration table available this night as well. Wear your mask. If you are unable to attend in person stay tuned for information on a link to follow online.
If anyone has any questions about the information above or wants to put forward their name for the working group please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you and look forward to seeing all your masked faces this winter! ;)
COVID - 19
Given the ever-changing situation around the COVID-19 outbreak, the club will be ending our 2019/2020 season.
Thank you to our members and sponsors for making the 2019/2020 season a great one.
We look forward to seeing you again in the fall.
